If you try adding pictures and store all those photos in an iPhoto library then sooner or later on iPhoto library space will get full. Then for adding up more data you need to remove some sections of photos and can keep them as a backup on any CD. You need to send your events photos to archive which are old enough.

With the assist of iPhoto smart album backing up and deleting photos from the library is very simple. Firstly you need to first identify the photos which you desire to archive. For doing this there is actually three ways to do this. You can do the selection of the photos according to their dates, and if you desire to archive iPhoto library not by date and only by content then you can do it by another way. One is by ratings and other is by keywords.



If you want iPhoto Archives for older photos then start by clicking select File > New Smart Album. After that on the sheet set your cut-off date so that it reads the date is before the cut-off date.

Another option for iPhoto Archives is to use ratings if you do not want to use date. For assigning ratings to photos you can select the desired photos from which you wish to remove from the hard disk. Control-click and then choose the ratings which you desire from the Rating command in the contextual menu.

Last option is through the use of Keywords. For assigning keywords select the photos for archive iPhoto library and then click the keyword icon which is at the bottom left of the window. Drag the photos to keyword you wish to use. If you do not find your appropriate keyword then you can easily create your own. You cana do it by choosing iPhoto > Preferences click the Keywords tab, click Add, and type your appropriate keyword.



Now on the basis of that keyword or rating create a Smart Album. Now the photos in your smart album are all set to be burned into a CD-R or DVD-R. Select the smart album, click share > Burn Disc. Once your iPhoto archive photos are archived you can now you are free to delete them from your iPhoto library. For doing this simply select the pictures in smart folder and choose Photos > Move to Trash. Photos will get placed in the trash bin. Then empty the trash folder.
