Get Know about iPhoto Tags

Gmail, Flickr, Delicious, and others have been using tagging files for quite a while. Tags are actually intended for equipping both Finder and Path Finder tagging capabilities. These tags are nothing but it’s used to describe a piece of data. You can easily tag your photos and also group alike ones together.

You can easily tag photos in iPhoto with the keyboard shortcut. In order to learn how to tag photos in iPhoto and use hot keys in iPhoto just read below:

For setting keyword:

  • In iPhoto go to window and then show keywords.
  • Now you can add in all names of friends and family members whom are in your photos then click on edit keywords.
  • Then click on the plus sign and type the name you want. After that click on OK.

For start tagging:

  • In iPhoto hover over a photo.
  • Add keywords will appear under the photo. Then click on it.
  • Start typing a hotkey It will populate with the corresponding keywords then you can add many names you want to.

You can also attach iPhoto tags to files from the finder or items from other supported applications like Address Book, mail, Safari, etc. iPhoto tags are being saved in spotlight metadata. This means that they get indexed and can be used to be search by spotlight outside of the tags application. iPhoto tags gives you a list of options to locates your files based on names with which you have tagged them. One can also make iPhoto Greeting Cards.

These iPhoto tags have two drawbacks. First is e-mail tags are not synchronized via IMAP and the second one is that the initial version of the tags have been for tagging in mind first other than the searching. Searching takes a back seat.

For tagging items these tags offers a keyboard short cut and forces users to mouse to a button to flip the window over and look for files. For many users spotlight is likely the other way for separating keyword shortcut, however it will be nice if you have shortcut for both the modes of application.
