  1. Ensure iPhoto is not open.
  2. Press and hold the "Shift" and "Option" keys if you are using iPhoto 2. If you are using iPhoto 4 use "Command" and "Option" keys.
  3. Open iPhoto and hold down the keys uptill you are prompted for rebuild the library.
  4. Select the options for your needs then click on "Rebuild."
