Do you wish to share your single iPhoto library to several users? Or do you desire to allow access to your friends and family on their Macs? Well for doing this you do not need to go for any unix based commands or any addition software program. For doing this there in fact three ways to do this.
Shared hard drive:
The simplest way is to use external hard drive to Share iPhoto library on server. If your iPod has space left then you can use it. You can easily set it by going to iTunes iPod preference pane then select the enable disk use. Then select the external hard drive on your Macs finder where you desire to store your iPhoto library folder. Then open its info window then go to ownership and permission pane turn on this volume. Close the window and drag the library folder to external hard drive.
Shared disk image:
Disk image is another sharing option. OS X considers this special file as an external hard disk so you can read and write into it. For setting open the disk utility click new image button and save it in folder /Users/Shared. You can also set the size. Then set none, the encryption and from the format popup menu select sparse disk image. Click create. After that open that shared folder and click new disk image and open info window by selecting the file. From the Ownership & Permissions pane select the details then click the lock icon. Select Unknown and type administrator password. Close the window and drag the library folder to mounted disk image.
Shared network volume:
You can easily share iPhoto library network on shared network if your Mac’s are networked by Ethernet or 100BaseT. On the host Mac open the Sharing preference pane and turn on the option of personal file sharing then click on start button. On the both the Mac’s open a new finder window. Select the network icon; connect by clicking on the name of the host mac. Type the user name and password click on the remember password. Select the home directory as the volume to mount. Click OK, the Finder's sidebar will be displaying the network volume.
